Transport for London released a map featuring 24-hour lines for the London Underground rail service. The new service will be effective from 12 September.
Lines that will be included are The Jubilee, Victoria and most of the Central, Northern and Piccadilly lines. Services are expected to run on average every 10 minutes or less. The new service known as ‘The Night Tube’ will run on Friday nights going into the early hours of Saturday and during early Sunday mornings.
It is reported that around 2,000 jobs will be supported by the new service and TfL estimated that London’s economy will be boosted by £360m. It is also expected that as a result of this service London’s demand for illegal minicabs will be reduced. The service will also provide connections to Heathrow Airport for travellers needing to fly before 7am during the weekends.
Night services for the other lines are expected to become operational once the modernisation programmes are complete.
